Tis’ the season to step up your holiday decorating! With all of those dinners and cocktail parties, transitioning your favorite spaces into entertainment mode is key. No matter what holiday you are celebrating, we have a couple design trends to ring in the season:
Branches—we’re all about bringing the outdoors in, and using decorative branches (instead of Christmas trees, Hanukkah bushes, and the like) is an excellent alternative (and much more environmentally friendly)! We like dressing up gorgeously gnarled driftwood from our summer vacations in Cape Cod, as well as delicate branches, intertwining twigs, and pine sprigs.
Metallics —metallic baubles, globes, and garlands have always been a part of the holiday décor special. This season, we’re looking for some other unique metallic playthings for the home. These shimmering bark candles and this cozy eco gold metallic dragon throw add just the right amount of sparkle:
Wreaths— While the classic green wreath may recall Christmas caroling and eggnog nightcaps, there are countless types of wreaths for all occasions. With the varied materials and different accessories to use, wreath-making can also be one of the most fun DIY projects for the holidays. For a more personal touch, a photo wreath is a gorgeous sentimental (and multi-seasonal) accent, while a branch wreath offers a more simple and naturalistic sensibility.
Antlers— from Victorian parlors to rustic ski lodges, and Indie lounge bars to modern family rooms, antlers have become a constant décor motif for all different time periods, seasons, and interiors. They go with virtually any type of space, and can be found in wall mountings, candelabras, table displays, and eco knit throws.
Alternative lighting— Let there be light! Using alternative lighting is one of the most common and versatile ways to give any space a little holiday magic. Dainty copper string lights or shimmering mercury glass lanterns offer the perfect amount of sparkle.
