At in2Green, we are dedicated to improving people’s lives by creating beautiful, comfortable, luxury throws that are also environmentally sustainable for the long term.
In pursuit of that mission, we are so incredibly honored that the National Building Museum in Washington DC has chosen to include our line in its revolutionary exhibit: Making Room: Housing for a Changing America.
The exhibit demonstrates how American housing needs have shifted since post-World War II. Making Room is aptly named, and highlights the challenges that builders and designers face in adapting to these shifting households. The single-family home is no longer the most commonly used or effective living solution for many Americans. Rather, the U.S. is experiencing a movement toward three dominant household types: senior couples, extended families, and roommates. The exhibit features 3 mock-floor plans (Dwell Magazine) showcasing the groundbreaking proposed design innovations (Washington Post.)
The creators of the exhibition found the ethos of In2Green to be beautifully aligned with their vision, and therefore integrated our large, lightweight woven throw blankets throughout the display. They used the colorful throws to add comfort, balance, and texture – a designer’s pro-tip that happily transcends trends and time. Making Room embraces the idea of creating and using versatile living spaces, and our over-sized woven throws—which can be used as tablecloths, couch covers, beach blankets, and much more—beautifully build upon that vision.
The Making Room: Housing for a Changing America exhibit is open now through September 16, 2018.
