We’ve always had the goal of making the perfect wool throw blanket. But to make one that is eco-friendly, washable and super-soft is a pretty lofty goal. We took our time to develop just the right yarn to fit our exacting standards, and now we are thrilled to introduce our first-ever washable wool throws in time for fall and winter.
Luxurious in Weight and Feel
Let’s talk some more about how we arrived at these throws and the special yarn behind them. 50% virgin merino wool is mixed with recycled polyester (taken from recycling post-consumer plastic bottles) and recycled cotton (made from upcycled post-industrial fabric scraps of t-shirts that have been re-fiberized).
The wool brings not just warmth, but also an added heather to the yarn color which gives the blankets a rich texture and depth of color. And to top it all off, these throws are completely machine washable and knit in the USA!
Celebrating Comfort and Coziness with Hygge
For the design direction of these throws, we celebrated the idea of hygge by paying homage to simple Scandinavian design. Our best-selling Swiss Cross Eco Throw design pops up in a repeating pattern, while our Eco Wool Herringbone Throw design is as classic as ever — no wonder it’s one of our best-selling patterns.
We’ve structured the color palette around ever-popular grays and black & whites, but we warmed them up with the addition of Sahara. We love stacking several of them at the end of a bed for a super-cozy look.
